The PokerStars Championships in Barcelona was a huge hit and plenty of new players have made it to the final draws in the major events.
The titles and the money of each of the events have been changing hands a lot this year. The €10K 8-max Event was one other event that attracted a lot of players to the table and at the end; it was the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Ryan Riess who won the event. By virtue of this win, he was richer by 155,500 Euros.
There were 59 players who took part in this event and this meant that the prize pool for the event went to €572,300. The final table had lesser known poker players fighting to win the event. The final table players had a total of 10 million dollars and a little more in earnings and Riess on his own has already amassed $10million+ as tournament cashes. (more…)
Fedor Holz has retired from professional poker for about a year now.
He is still quite active in the poker world and has won about $2,000,000 by playing only high stakes tournaments. It looks like he has not lost his touch of the game despite retiring from the game and also reducing the amount of events and tournaments that he plays.
Holz is now fully involved with his start-up called Primed Mind that is a mindset coaching app. He is playing lesser number in tournaments than before and is focusing on the start up more. He came second in the ultra-tough SCOOP $2,100 PLO event even though this event was not his favorite. He is a specialist in no-limit hold’em event. This proves that a class master at the poker event can play all formats of the game. (more…)
Jerry Wong is the poker player that plays games with all skills and not the luck.
This was proven in 2016 when he finished eighth in the main event of (WSOP) World Series of Poker. Then entries in the event were 6,737. Now, again in the year 2017, he is showing his great skill of playing poker. In early 2017 he has won the (SHRLHPO) Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open of WPTDeepStacks re-entry event.
This tournament is the second largest in the history of Florida having the entry of 4,567 players. It is a $360 buy-in tournament with a $500,000 guarantee. The event will have the prize pool of $1,426,800.
Speaking about the last year’s event, Wong said “The poker is the game and players do everything to win it. It is the player who decides what is best for them and everyone takes action according to their financial interest.” (more…)
Championships and festivals are what poker players and enthusiasts wait for, either to witness or to take part in.
PokerStars being one of the premier companies that not only runs different online operations, but also different live events, its yearly schedule is eagerly awaited by its fans. With the Thanksgiving holiday having been a lull for most poker communities across the world, it is time to perk up and find the upcoming event schedule of this organization for the upcoming year. Many times celebrities often dabble in poker which makes news worldwide.
The latest entrant in this category is Justin Bieber. The 22 year old artist who has been an international sensation from his early boyhood was seen this week at the Leicester Square casino. He was found playing at the casino in London till the early hours of the morning. Trying his hand at a poker game was definitely enough to get the rumor mills running about him dabbling in the game.
He has been in London for a while now and has been playing gigs in packs out clubs and halls. The poker game was purely indulgence and it probably helped him to relax and focus his mind at the same time. He came by at the Empire Casino in Leicester Square in London. He started to play in the early hours of Monday. That day he had been found playing at gigs in town. He has put up at a rented mansion in the north part of the city recently. His fashion always makes news and this trip also has got the fans interested to see what he is wearing. At the casino he flaunted ripped jeans, grey beanie and maroon hoodie. (more…)
It is not easy to rattle Joe McKeehen. He sports a stoic reflection, talks in a monotonic voice, never too low or too high, and sees for those minute things.
It might be a raised eyebrow, an intercepting finger on the green poker table felt, or how fast someone would move their hands. The power to see what no one other people see has come through patience, practice and time.
Back on Tuesday at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Penn & Teller theatre, the red-bearded, soft-spoken McKeehen saw through each one. La Salle High School as well as Arcadia University grad did something that none thought he could do when he got hold of World Series of Poker 2015 championship, collecting a hefty US$ 7.68 million in 1st place prize money. And, he won it sporting an Allen Iverson jersey.
